Mauna Kea Beach Hotel

OVERVIEW

This was said by Laurance S. Rockefeller, who founded The Mauna Kea Beach Hotel in 1965. He knew the great beach at Kauna’oa also deserved spectacular golf and exceptional dining to accompany the most exclusive and expensive resort of its day. Four decades later, following a $150 million repair and renovation, The Mauna Kea once again stands as a landmark of luxury on the Big Island’s golden Kohala Coast.

With a timeless tradition of aloha, The Mauna Kea Beach Hotel welcomes generations of guests to come and be inspired by the past, embraced by the moment, enchanted by the warm days and exciting possibilities ahead.

ACTIVITIES

The luxurious Mauna Kea Beach Hotel along with kaikaina (younger sister) Hapuna Beach Prince Hotel provides almost-endless recreation options for our guests. So many activities await you at our Hawaii family hotel.

Mauna Kea Golf Course along with Hapuna Golf Course, designed by Arnold Palmer and Ed Seay in 1994, Mauna Kea Resort Golf is a complete experience.  36 holes, many of them with ocean views, and dramatic topography that climbs from sea level to 600′ offer an exciting golf challenge for the top player, and a rewarding Big Island golf experience for golfers of every level.

Along the stunning ocean coastline north of Kauna‘oa is the 11-court Seaside Tennis Club, one of the largest and most sought-after tennis experiences in Hawaii. In addition to great tennis, Craig Pautler and his team serve up some of the most thoughtful touches available at the best private luxury tennis clubs, as well as lessons and daily clinics, round robin tourneys, and a comfortable lānai to relax in the shade.

Whether you want to wiggle your toes in the sand or make a big splash, there’s a world of water activities waiting for you during your Hawaii family vacation.

Let the Keiki play together, while Mom and Dad enjoy a seaside lunch or golf with playmates of their own. The resorts Keiki Club is a fun way to meet new friends and learn a little about the Big Island, Hawaii’s unique culture and nature at the same time, building Mauna Kea memories along with castles in the sand.  Supervised activities with experienced counselors include something different every day, from building sand castles on the beach to shoreline explorations of the Kohala Coast, Hawaiian arts and crafts, games and even a little bit of learning about this special place. Half-day and full-day programs with lunch available.
